4 Injured in Port Tobacco Road Crash, Child Airlifted to Trauma Center

LA PLATA, Md. — Port Tobacco Road was temporarily shut down between Hilltop Road and Chestnut Hill Place following a two-vehicle crash that left four people injured, including a child, according to emergency communications and dispatch records.

First responders were alerted at 2:36 p.m. to the scene of a head-on collision. Early reports described one vehicle as having gone off-road, while the other sustained heavy front-end damage and remained on the shoulder. Emergency crews from multiple Charles County units were dispatched to the site.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel found one adult trapped inside a vehicle and a child with visible bleeding from the nose. A second patient reportedly had pre-existing disabilities and required specialized care.
