5 WAYS TO USE MAKEUP SETTING SPRAY
I am obsessed with Setting Spray! It is a magical potion and one of my holy grail makeup products I can’t live without. It comes everywhere with me, and I have a travel size in every bag. Setting spray is fantastic for many things besides setting your makeup, and today I am sharing my best setting spray hacks you need to know with you today.
5 WAYS TO USE MAKEUP SETTING SPRAY
FAVORITE SETTING SPRAYS
Before we start, let me share my favorites with you. These are all of my tried-and-true favorite setting sprays. They all do a great job and will help your makeup last all day.
PRO TIP: Be generous with this product and really douse your face before letting it dry completely. If your makeup is not lasting for you, chances are you are not suing enough of this stuff!
URBAN DECAY ALL NIGHTER
You simply can’t go wrong with this Original Urban Decay one. It is a true workhorse and will make your makeup last all day long. I used to get text messages from brides at the end of their wedding day telling me their makeup still looked perfect, and they couldn’t believe it!
ALL NIGHTER EXTRA GLOW
This is the glowy version of the above-mentioned setting spray, and I love this one for dry and mature skin. It gives you the most beautiful glowing skin, and I get so many compliments when I use this. If you have oily skin, I would skip this one and stick with the original or the version for oily skin.
TRAVEL-SIZED SETTING SPRAY
This is the one I take with me everywhere. I bought 3 of these, and now I just keep refilling them with the larger versions. They are TSA-friendly and great to have in your carry-on for an instant makeup refresh.
BUDGET-FRIENDLY SETTING SPRAY
I love this setting spray, and it has become my go-to because it is so much more affordable than the ones mentioned above. Is it better than the Urban Decay one? No, but for the price, it is a super close second and my favorite one to use for every day.
SETTING SPRAY HACKS YOU NEED TO KNOW
Now that we have discussed my favorite setting sprays let’s get to it. Let me share with you all the ways setting spray will change your life. You can thank me later! 😉
SET AND REFRESH YOUR MAKEUP THROUGHOUT THE DAY
This is the obvious way to use it, and it is a game changer. The key is to be generous with it and let it dry down completely. Not only will this set your makeup until you take it off, but it also makes your makeup mesh together and takes down that powdery, I just did my makeup, look. Keep your setting spray handy throughout the day to refresh your face. It will perk up your mood and your makeup.
SPRAY YOUR BEAUTY BLENDER BEFORE APPLYING FOUR FOUNDATION
It is a common misconception that you need to wear a lot of makeup to make it last. This little hack is a great way to make sure your foundation stays put all day long without wearing a lot of it, and it also gives you a natural, airbrushed finish. Simply spray your damp beauty blender with makeup setting spray, then dab on your foundation.
GIVE YOUR EYESHADOW SOME DRAMA AND STAYING POWER
It’s event season, and more dramatic eye makeup looks are upon us. I prefer to spray my eyeshadow brush with setting spray to amp up the intensity of shimmer eye shadows while also minimizing fallout and making your look last all night.
SPRAY IT ON YOUR EYELINER BRUSH BEFORE APPLYING POWDER LINER
This is a favorite trick of mine. I don’t like using pencil eyeliner because it typically has a wax base, which tends to smudge. Think about it – when you heat up wax, it runs. A similar thing happens when a wax-based eyeliner pencil heats up on your face – it starts to smudge. I spray my flat eyeliner brush with setting spray, wipe off the extra, and then use black liner to push the pigment into my lashline. It is the perfect lash enhancement without looking like you are wearing heavy liner.
FIX CONCEALER CREASING
This has to be one of my favorite tricks and best-kept secrets. Concealer is typically quite a dense product and tends to crease under the eye area after it warms up on the face, similar to the eyeliner pencils I mentioned above. A quick fix to blend out creases and prevent them from happening again is to spray your concealer brush with setting spray and then blend it out. I prefer this technique of adding a setting powder, as that can quickly make the skin under the eye look dry and age you, especially if you are over 40, like me. This is a foolproof way to fix and prevent it from happening again without adding another layer of products.
