Maryland House Republicans Re-Elect Leadership Team

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Today, the House Republican Caucus reelected their leadership team by unanimous acclamation. Delegate Jason Buckel (District 1-B Allegany County) and Delegate Jesse Pippy (District 4 – Frederick County) were re-elected to serve as Minority Leader and Minority Whip. The Leader and Whip run for their leadership positions as a team.

First elected to serve as Minority Leader in 2021, Delegate Buckel previously served as Chief Deputy Minority Whip.

“I am thankful to be selected by my friends and colleagues to continue to serve as the House Minority Leader,” said Delegate Buckel. “We will face many challenges during the upcoming 90-day session, and I have the utmost faith that together we will strive to represent Marylanders in the most effective manner possible here in Annapolis.”

First elected to serve as Minority Whip in 2023, Delegate Pippy previously served as the Chairman of the Caucus Steering Committee which is tasked with developing the legislative agenda for the Republican Caucus.

“I am honored to serve alongside and support my colleagues in the House Republican Caucus,” said Delegate Pippy. “The upcoming session will be the most difficult our state has seen in decades, and I know our members will offer thoughtful, common-sense solutions to put Maryland on a solid footing.”

The 2025 Legislative Session begins at Noon on Wednesday, January 8.
