It’s a great thing to see in anime because of the depth it adds to a character. A lot of villains in anime are one-dimensional. They’re not exciting when they’re on-screen because they have no real motivation, background, or anything else that would make them a good villain.
A hero who was once a villain is always worth watching. These characters are usually some of the most emotionally intelligent, as they went through a lot to get to where they are now. Some of the best heroes in anime were once villains, and they’re usually so powerful that it’s a good thing they changed their ways and switched sides.
