Man Dies After Being Struck by Boat Propeller in Ridge




RIDGE Md., — A 65-year-old man has died following a fatal Ridge boating accident on Saturday afternoon at the Point Lookout Marina. The man suffered critical injuries after he reportedly fell from a boat and was struck by its propeller.
The tragedy unfolded around 1:05 p.m. on August 2, 2025, at the marina located on Millers Wharf Road. The U.S. Coast Guard initially alerted local emergency services to the incident. Initial reports indicated the man sustained a significant head wound and a laceration to his leg from the propeller strike.
A large-scale response from St. Mary’s County Fire & EMS rushed to the scene. First responders found the victim in critical condition. They immediately began performing life-saving measures, including CPR, on the man at the dock. Due to the severe nature of his injuries, emergency crews also established a landing zone for a medevac helicopter at the nearby St. Michaels Catholic Church.
Despite extensive and immediate efforts by multiple emergency crews, the man succumbed to his injuries. An official on the scene confirmed that authorities pronounced the subject deceased..
