Assassin’s Creed Shadows Is Getting A PS5 Pro Upgrade And More In An Update

Ubisoft is releasing the first major patch for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, updating the game for PlayStation 5 Pro and adding other quality-of-life improvements. Other than improvements to the PS5 Pro version of the game, the title update also fixes bugs and adds several features based on player feedback.

As shared by Ubisoft (via Eurogamer), the 1.0.2 update for Assassin’s Creed Shadows introduces PSSR, a feature that adds Raytraced Specular support to the game’s Balanced mode. This option, which must be manually enabled, boosts the visual fidelity, bringing it closer to the PS5 Pro’s Quality mode rather than its Performance mode.

PSSR, or PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, is an AI-driven upscaling technology that is designed to enhance image clarity and deliver ultra-high definition play with astonishing detail.

On all platforms, the patch also features changes to Mastery Nodes, the Investigation Board, and horse speeds. The Assassin’s Creed Shadows 1.0.2 update is live on April 8 at 10 AM EDT.

Other Player-Requested Features Will Be In The Patch

Ubisoft Is Actively Listening To Player Feedback

While Assassin’s Creed Shadows had the second-biggest launch in the franchise’s history, it wasn’t without issues, particularly with the PC version. However, Ubisoft has assured players that developers are actively listening to feedback and addressing player needs. Ubisoft even outlined planned improvements and additions for upcoming updates. This big update to the game appears to be the first that incorporates several fan-requested features.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Boss Fights Highlight The Game’s Biggest Weakness

Assassin’s Creed Shadows can be fun as both Yasuke and Naoe, but things don’t work out quite the same in the game’s main story boss fights.

Among the biggest changes in the April 8 patch is that the “follow path” feature from previous games has returned. Additionally, mounts will now automatically follow the road to a set destination. Players can also reset Naoe and Yasuke’s Mastery Nodes on the skill trees to experiment with different playstyles. One quality-of-life change allows players to sell and dismantle multiple items at once when trading with merchants or using the Hideout Forge. Lastly, players can now access the Investigation Board by holding down the “Option” button for a few seconds.

The Already Stunning Assassin’s Creed Shadows Will Look Better

How Beautiful Can A Game Get?

Players already know how beautiful and realistic Assassin’s Creed Shadows is. However, this new update makes the stunning game look even better with PS5 Pro’s visual upgrades. The update lets the game take advantage of the PS5 Pro’s powerful ray tracing, which can be cast quicker than the standard PS5. Add the adaptive PSSR feature and the game is sure to look absolutely gorgeous with this update.

The 1.0.2 update also removes the 30 FPS frame rate cap while in Hideout when using Performance mode. It also brings boss fight balancing, improved Double Assassinations, and improvements to Naoe’s responsiveness. All of this, coupled with several bug fixes, makes update 1.0.2 look like the beginning of a bright future for Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
