Samuel Basallo, the primary catcher for the AA Bowie Baysox is set to play in the MiLB All-Star Futures Game tonight. Basallo reigns as the Orioles #2 prospect and has been a key part of Bowie’s lineup for the 2024 season.
Basallo has played 68 games in 2024, hitting .278/.338/.794, collecting 24 extra base hits including 11 home runs and 34 RBIs. He is the first Baysox to play in the Future’s Game since Adley Rutschman in 2021.
Originally from the Dominican Republic, Basallo signed with the Orioles in 2021 as an international free agent. He debuted with the Baysox in September of 2023.
The 2024 All-Star Future game will be held on Saturday, July 13 at 4:10 pm EST in Arlington, Texas.
