The upcoming TV series, based on Melissa De La Cruz’s best-selling Blue Bloods books, is in development by Awesomeness and revolves around a version of New York City ruled by an elite group of immortal vampires. The show will follow 17-year-old Sky, a human-vampire hybrid, who enrolls at the prestigious Duchesne Institute after being exiled from the high-ranking vampire group known as the Blue Bloods. Sky faces the challenge of finding her place while contending with the return of an ancient breed of evil vampires wreaking havoc in the city. Jacquie Walters is attached as writer and executive producer, with De La Cruz, Richard Abate from 3 Arts Entertainment, and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein from The Gotham Group also serving as executive producers. This adaptation marks another TV project for De La Cruz, who previously saw her Witches of East End series adapted for Lifetime and writes the prequel books for Disney’s Descendants franchise.
