America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders documented the success and failures among the hopefuls for the 2024 DCC squad, but some stars have major career updates after the series. While America’s Sweethearts season 1 showed off more than the cheerleader’s skills, the docu-series has been able to dive into the lives of some of the incredible hopefuls in the running for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders 2024 squad. While rookies like Reece Weaver made it onto the squad after a grueling audition process and training camp, many of the hopefuls were sent home with an invitation to audition again next season.
“I have never worked harder for something in my life”
According to E! Online, two of the hopefuls introduced on America’s Sweethearts, Kelly Villares and Charly Barby, took the initiative to return to the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders audition process and made the team for the 2025 season. “I have never worked harder for something in my life & I genuinely feel that from the bottom of my heart,” Charly shared on Instagram in an emotional post that documented her time spent in the audition process this past year.
Charly made it to the final stages of training camp on America’s Sweethearts, while Kelly was cut a bit earlier. “I’m not sure if I’ll ever be able to process the fact that my lifelong dream has come true,” Kelly explained in her own post, sharing photos of her audition process, as well. Both Kelly and Charly are shown together in each of their posts, alongside now-veteran DCC team member Reece, who they were close with during their initial audition season.

Both Women Returned To Audition For A Second Time
Throughout America’s Sweethearts, Charly and Kelly were both focal points of the docu-series as their auditions and training camp performances were on the precipice of being good enough to make the squad. Kelly, originally from New Jersey, shared that being a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader has been her dream for nearly the entirety of her life. Growing up a dancer, she felt supported by her family but constantly felt like she wasn’t reaching out far enough. After undergoing a major makeover as guided by the DCC coaches, Kelly fell just shy of making the team during her first year of auditions.
Charly, who also shared that it was her dream to become a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader, managed to make it to the tail end of training camp during her first cycle auditioning. Close with Reece throughout the season, Charly was one of the final cuts made at the end of training camp, and it didn’t feel like the coaches genuinely wanted her to leave. Unfortunately, there wasn’t space for Charly on the roster, and the coaches had no other choice. Thankfully, both women were able to make it through, becoming members of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleading team for the 2024-2025 season.
With America’s Sweethearts potentially filming a second season of the series to keep track of another cycle of DCC team members, viewers may get the chance to see Charly and Kelly in action. The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleading audition process is tough, and moving through it with grace takes a lot of skill. Both Kelly and Charly were able to take their rejections and move forward, coming back for a second try that left them successful.
