Every New and Returning Character in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3

At long last, Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 is finally confirmed for a January 2026 release window; it’s been a long time since there was anything of note happening with the anime, and the manga has even ended since the last update, but if the trailer is to be believed, then season 3 will be well worth the wait.
A big part of what will make season 3 so great is the cast, as between old favorites and new faces, Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 will feature a great cast of characters to get invested in. There will be plenty of characters to keep track of, and here’s a breakdown of the ones who will be the most important.
Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, Yuta Okkotsu, And Satoru Gojo
The Heroes Of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3
The main players for Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 will be Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, and Yuta Okkotsu; Yuji, of course, is the protagonist, but Megumi is also involved to try and get his sister out of the Culling Games, and Yuta is working to free Gojo from the Prison Realm and kill Kenjaku so Gojo doesn’t have to.
As for Satoru Gojo, while part 1 would only be able to show him off in flashbacks, depending on where part 2 ends, season 3 might end with Gojo being freed from the Prison Realm and kickstarting the final battle with Sukuna, something that would be a perfect segway into Jujutsu Kaisen’s finale.
Yuki Tsukumo, Choso, And Tengen
The Last Defense Of Jujutsu Society
Following the events of Jujutsu Kaisen season 2, the special-grade sorcerer Yuki Tsukumo will become a recurring character to help deal with Kenjaku. Additionally, Choso, once an enemy of the main cast, is now pledging allegiance to Yuji after discovering that they’re brothers, so he will also be there to fight Kenjaku and support Yuji.
The biggest role Yuki and Choso will have, however, will be in protecting Tengen; much of season 3’s plot will revolve around Kenjaku trying to take control of Tengen, and as such, season 3 will mark Tengen’s proper appearance in the story as Jujutsu Kaisen finally delves into who she is as a character.
Maki Zenin, Mai Zenin, And Naoya Zenin
The Stars Of The Jujutsu World’s Most Infamous Family
After narrowly surviving Jogo’s assault, Maki Zenin returns to help with the Culling Games and the fight against Kenjaku, but before that happens, she will have to deal with the Zenin clan, which has treated her like garbage since she was young, and finally receive closure with her sister, Mai.
Tying everything together is Naoya Zenin, a senior member of the Zenin clan and the biggest source of the abuse Maki suffered. A sadist and a sexist, Naoya spends most of his time trying to make Maki suffer as much as possible, and he will end up as one of the major forces behind Maki’s character arc in season 3.
Kinji Hakari And Kirara Hoshi
Jujutsu High’s Missing Third-Year Students
Kinji Hakari is one of the third-year students who was suspended sometime before the start of the story. Despite his self-absorbed nature, Hakari helps Yuji and the others with the Culling Games after being moved by Yuji’s passion, and he ultimately lives up to his reputation as one of Gojo’s strongest students.
Hakari is joined by Kirara Hoshi, another suspended third-year student and Hakari’s partner in both business and life. Kirara’s unique cursed technique allows them to play a supporting role throughout the story, but unfortunately, their relevance greatly pales in comparison to Hakari and other new characters who will be introduced in season 3.
Panda, Noritoshi Kamo, Kasumi Miwa, And Atsuya Kusakabe
Yuji’s Few Remaining Allies From Jujutsu High
Panda, Noritoshi Kamo, Kasumi Miwa, and Atsuya Kusakabe all survived the events of season 2 and will make regular appearances throughout the Culling Games arc, although with Miwa and Kusakabe, they won’t be relevant again until the final arc and are largely ignored by the story until then, especially Miwa.
As for Panda and Noritoshi, Panda will have a brief fight with Hajime Kashimo, Noritoshi will assist Maki in her rematch with Naoya, and in both cases, their fights in the Culling Games do a lot to flesh out their characters and close out their long-running character arcs before the finale.
Hana Kurusu, Fumihiko Takaba, Hiromi Higuruma, And Rin Amai
Yuji’s Newest Allies For The Culling Games
In the first Tokyo Colony of the Culling Games, Yuji and Megumi meet and eventually ally with Hana Kurusu, Fumihiko Takaba, Hiromi Higuruma, and Rin Amai. Each of them has cursed techniques of varying strength and utility, but they all play important roles in the final battle against Sukuna and Kenjaku.
The most notable of them all is Hana Kurusu; Hana is possessed by an ancient sorcerer named Angel, who gives her the power to extinguish any cursed technique, so not only is Hana instrumental in freeing Gojo, but she also plays a major part in the final battle against Sukuna, thanks to the overwhelming power of her attacks.
Charles Bernard And Hajime Kashimo
The Combatants Of The Second Tokyo Colony
In the second Tokyo Colony, Hakari ends up in a fight against Charles Bernard, a wannabe mangaka struggling to get published, both because of his lack of talent and his inability to work with his editor. Despite his bad personality, Hakari manages to win Charles over, and he ultimately becomes a valuable ally by the final battle.
A much more noteworthy character, however, is Hajime Kashimo. Kashimo is an incarnated sorcerer who seeks a battle with anyone strong, especially Sukuna, and after some initial conflict with Hakari, he joins Yuji’s group with the intention of getting a fight with Sukuna, something that would be seen in a hypothetical fourth season.
Hagane Daido And Rokujushi Miyo
The Combatants Of The Sakurajima Colony
Hagane Daido and Rokujushi Miyo are two incarnated fighters Maki meets in the Sakurajima Colony. Hagane doesn’t have any powers, but he’s a swordsman with such heightened skill and senses that he can still fight cursed spirits, and Rokujushi has a special Simple Domain that completely shuts off the outside world while he and someone else are sumo wrestling.
As odd characters as Hagane and Rokujushi may be, they’re both surprisingly important to Maki’s character arc, as the lessons they impart on her, and the way they do so, help Maki achieve the final bit of clarity she needed to fully master her Heavenly Restriction, which finally put her on the same level as Toji.
Reggie Star And Remi
The Combatants Of The First Tokyo Colony
Reggie Star and Remi are a pair of sorcerers that Yuji and Megumi encounter in the first Tokyo Colony. Remi failed in her attempts to kill Megumi for Reggie, and after being captured by the American military, her fate is left unresolved, with no confirmation whether she was killed in an experiment or rescued by Maki.
By comparison, Reggie Star plays a much more significant role in the story, as not only does he give Megumi his final big fight in the story, but he’s the one to make Megumi realize that the Culling Game was just the first step to Kenjaku’s master plan, even if Reggie, himself, didn’t know all the details.
Ryu Ishigori, Takako Uro, And Kurourushi
The Combatants Of The Sendai Colony
Ryu Ishigori, Takako Uro, and Kurourushi are a trio of fighters Yuta encounters in the Sendai Colony. Kurourushi is a cursed spirit embodying humanity’s fear of cockroaches, and despite being a powerful Special-Grade, meaning he’s in the same class as Mahito and Jogo, Yuta still defeated him after a tough fight.
Ryu Ishigori and Takako Uro had far more substantial roles as incarnated sorcerers, and not only were they Yuta’s main opponents in the Sendai Colony, but Yuta even developed a bit of camaraderie with Ishigori during their fight, although nothing would come of that due to Sukuna killing Ishigori shortly after.
