LEXINGTON PARK, Md – A serious two-vehicle crash on Great Mills Road resulted in one fatality and another person being hospitalized on this Sunday afternoon, prompting an extended road closure as authorities investigate.
Emergency crews responded to the crash near Crossroads Apartments around 2:33 PM, reporting that at least one individual had been ejected from a vehicle, requiring CPR at the scene. Despite life-saving efforts, one person was pronounced deceased. Another patient was transported to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A medical helicopter was initially requested but later canceled.
The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Great Mills Road is closed in both directions between Westbury Blvd and the Chesapeake Shores Facility due to police activity related to the crash investigation. Detours are in place, and authorities urge drivers to seek alternative routes.
