Great Mills Domestic Violence Suspect Faces Multiple Felony Charges

GREAT MILLS, Md. — Michael Bronson Andrade, the armed domestic violence suspect apprehended after a manhunt in Great Mills, now faces multiple felony charges including home invasion and assault. The 48-year-old Chesapeake Beach man was transported to St. Mary’s County Detention Center following his arrest.
St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office issued warrants charging Andrade with home invasion, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony or crime of violence. The charges stem from the early Sunday morning domestic incident that triggered the intensive manhunt.
The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on September 7, 2025, when deputies responded to Longfields Village Drive for a reported domestic disturbance. According to investigators, Andrade entered a residence, confronted victims while brandishing a firearm, and then fled on foot when deputies arrived.
The serious nature of the charges reflects the severity of the alleged crimes. Home invasion and first-degree assault are felony offenses that carry significant prison sentences. Additionally, the use of a firearm enhancement can substantially increase potential penalties under Maryland law.
Law enforcement conducted an extensive search operation using K9 units and multiple deputies throughout the Great Mills area. The manhunt ended successfully when officers safely apprehended Andrade without further incident. Residents had been warned to avoid approaching the armed suspect during the search.
The incident remains under active investigation by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office. Detective Kortnie Marsch is leading the investigation and encourages anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. Witnesses can contact Detective Marsch at 301-475-4200, ext. 8179, or by email at Kortnie.Marsch@stmaryscountymd.gov.
Court proceedings and arraignment information has not yet been released by authorities.
