During The Golden Bachelorette season 1, Joan and Chock faced tragedy together when Chock’s mother passed away. He had to leave for a bit, and, because Joan had left Gerry Turner’s Golden Bachelor season due to a family emergency and didn’t return, she wondered if he’d really come back to her. When he did, she was elated and relieved. After that, it really became clear that Joan and Chock were meant-to-be and their relationship became very strong. He said that he was kind of a quiet and reserved guy, but he was 60 years old, and he was ready to have fun. Chock was excited to spend some quality time with Joan, to just get to know her and get her to smile.

Joan arrived on the Disneyland train, and she greeted Chock with a big smile and a hug. She gave him a pair of Mickey Mouse ears to wear that matched her Minnie Mouse ones. They even had the chance to meet Mickey and Minnie. Joan shared in her confessional that, from the moment that she stepped off of the train and Chock hugged her, he made her feel so comfortable immediately. She gushed about how handsome he looked and his beautiful blue eyes.

Joan then revealed that she;d asked Chock to go on the date with her because he had a lot of the qualities that were really important to her, such as being a gentleman, being kind, and valuing family. She said that she’d seen his serious side, but she wanted to find out if he was fun, which was an essential quality for her. Joan and Chock then explored Disneyland, getting to know each other. Chock stated in his confessional that the chemistry that they had was really good, and that they had so much in common and the same values and morals.
