Lexington Park Woman Faces Burglary And Assault Charges After Domestic Dispute Escalates
LEXINGTON PARK, Md. – Authorities in St. Mary’s County have charged 25-year-old Mackenzie Willow Sheriff of Lexington Park with third-degree burglary and two counts of second-degree assault following a series of troubling incidents on November 18, 2024, at a residence on Liberty Street.
The incident began when deputies responded to reports of a woman running through a parking lot, barefoot and disheveled, yelling that a man had placed his hands on her. Upon arrival, officers encountered Mackenzie Sheriff, displaying visible signs of distress. Witnesses reported that she appeared intoxicated, was unable to maintain her balance, and exhibited slurred speech. Despite her condition, Sheriff was uncooperative and unwilling to separate herself from her fiancé, who was identified as one of the victims.
According to investigators, the fiancé, who had been gathering his belongings from their shared residence following a domestic dispute earlier that day, alleged that Sheriff physically assaulted him. Witnesses corroborated this account, reporting that Sheriff pushed him in the chest and grabbed his arm during the altercation.
The situation escalated further when another victim, who lived in a nearby apartment, returned to his residence and encountered Sheriff. According to this victim, Sheriff forced her way into his home, following him upstairs uninvited. He stated that Sheriff groped him and attempted to kiss him. When he resisted, Sheriff reportedly fell against him and scratched his arm in the ensuing scuffle. The victim was eventually able to push her out of his residence.
Law enforcement officers detained Sheriff and transported her to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center. She now faces charges of third-degree burglary for allegedly forcing entry into the second victim’s apartment, as well as two counts of second-degree assault stemming from the physical altercations with both victims.
Sheriff remains in custody, awaiting her initial court appearance.
