Shed Fire on Young Road Extinguished, Started by Lawnmower

WALDORF, Md. — Charles County firefighters extinguished a detached shed fire Friday evening on Young Road that started from a lawnmower. The 10×10 shed was completely destroyed in the blaze, according to dispatch.
The Waldorf shed fire was reported at 7:51 p.m. on September 12, 2025, at Young Road address. Multiple Charles County fire units responded to the structure fire involving a detached shed and garage. Dispatch confirms the shed was reported as being actively burning and not connected to the home.
Emergency crews arrived to find the small storage shed fully engulfed in flames. Fire personnel established operations with a water line while a collaborating unit set up incident command at the scene. Firefighters deployed handlines and quickly brought the fire under control.
The fire originated from a lawnmower inside the 10×10 shed, according to dispatch communications. The structure collapsed during the incident, with Command reporting the shed was “now on the ground” as crews continued suppression efforts.
Multiple Charles County fire suppressant units responded to the scene along with multiple support vehicles. Command held only essential units on scene while releasing others back to service as the fire was contained.
Water supply was established at Truman Manor, additional units laying out water lines to support firefighting operations. The incident was declared under control within approximately 30 minutes of the initial report.
No injuries were reported in connection with the shed fire. The structure was determined to be a total loss due to the fire damage and collapse. Command terminated operations and released all units back to normal service by 8:26 p.m.
