Pomfret, Md. – A 16-year-old female athlete was airlifted to a trauma center after collapsing mid-event at a wrestling tournament in Pomfret, Maryland, on the evening of March 1, 2025.
Emergency crews responded to Maurice J. McDonough High School following reports that the teen had suddenly lost consciousness. Upon arrival, first responders found her unresponsive but breathing as she lay on the ground.
Medical personnel stabilized the teen before transferring her to a designated landing site in Port Tobacco, where she was airlifted to a regional trauma center for further treatment.
At this time, the cause of the medical emergency remains unclear, and no additional updates on her condition have been released.
