LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — The Arc Southern Maryland celebrated the grand opening of its new St. Mary’s County office with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Jan. 23, 2025. The event, held at the new location at 47335 Thomas Rowe Lane, Lexington Park, was hosted in partnership with the St. Mary’s County Chamber of Commerce.
“Another Ribbon Cutting in the books. We welcome The ARC of Southern Maryland to its new location in Lexington Park. Thank you to Commissioner President Randy Guy for presenting a proclamation,” the St. Mary’s County Chamber of Commerce shared on Facebook.
The event included a proclamation presentation from the commissioners and an open house showcasing the facility’s services and programs. The Arc Southern Maryland, a non-profit organization founded in 1975, advocates for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and provides a range of services including housing, job placement, and behavioral support.
“What an incredible day! A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for the ribbon cutting, commissioners’ proclamation, and open house at our new St. Mary’s County office! We are honored to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our community,” the organization shared on Facebook. “None of this would be possible without the strong relationships we’ve built with partners, supporters, and families. Together, we’re making a difference, one step at a time.”
The new location is expected to play a key role in expanding The Arc’s programs and providing additional support to the community. Renee Seigley, Director of Development at The Arc Southern Maryland, highlighted the importance of the new space in supporting the organization’s mission.
“Being able to expand the space for our programs and for our continued growth is what I’m most excited about,” Seigley said.
The new office serves more than 70 individuals and is also home to 12 residential homes in the area. Among the most anticipated additions to the Lexington Park location is a tech lab, funded by a recent grant.
“It’ll be a room that’s dedicated to tech stations, a smart board, and assistive technology for people who need it,” Seigley explained. “It will also be a space where we can bring in third-party participants to complete trainings and do workshops.”
As a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, The Arc Southern Maryland is affiliated with The Arc Maryland and The Arc of the United States, the largest grassroots organization serving people with IDD. The organization remains committed to its mission to create opportunities for independence and personal success for individuals with different abilities in inclusive communities.
