The Triple-AAA Norfolk Tides split their 6 game series with the Memphis Redbirds 3-3. The series was from June 11th – June 16th, and each game was in Norfolk. The Tides played well, bringing their record to 35-34 and successfully keeping them above .500.
Among the Tides’ notable players was outfielder Billy Cook, who got eight hits, including a double, a triple, and three home runs. He is responsible for six RBIs in the series. Additionally, center fielder Daniel Johnson got six hits and seven RBIs, bringing his average to .297 this season. Nick Maton got five hits, including a home run on June 11th, and walked nine times.
Pitcher Brandon Young made a stellar outing during the fourth game of the series, which the Tides won 9-2. Young pitched five innings, striking out 4 and allowing just one hit.
The Baltimore Orioles’ starting pitcher Dean Kremer made his rehab start for Norfolk on Sunday in game six of the series. He pitched 3.2 innings, allowing four hits, two earned runs, walking one, and striking out three. He got the loss in the game.
This was a promising series for the Tides, highlighting their stellar offense and pitching. The Tides play again on Tuesday, June 18th in Lehigh Valley.
