Mötley Crüe announced on Thursday its third Las Vegas residency. It will take place at Dolby Live at Park MGM this spring.
The hairy metallurgists are touring without founding guitarist Mick Mars, who in recent years has been battling both a rare disease, ankylosing spondylitis, and his former bandmates in court over his ownership share.
Mars has been permanently replaced by John 5, who has previously played with Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson.
“Mötley Crüe and Las Vegas have always been the perfect combination of extravagance and decadence,” the band stated in a press release written by its publicist. “We’ve always loved the idea of the Vegas residency, because we’ve always loved the idea of staying in one location to build a unique show for the fans. We’re excited to get into rehearsals and work up a lot of songs that have been requested by the fans for years.”
This will be the Crue’s third Las Vegas residency, following two at the old Hard Rock in 2012 and 2013.
The new dates are March 28 and 29, and April 3, 4, 5, 9, 11, 12, 16, 18 and 19.
Fan club and Citi presales kick off at 10 a.m. PT Friday, Oct. 4, with tickets going on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11 via Ticketmaster.
Eagles Land Another Four
The Eagles have added four shows to their residency at the Las Vegas Sphere, bringing the total count to 24 over 12 weekends.
Tickets for the new dates — February 14, 15, 21 and 22 — go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11 starting at $175 for the nosebleed seats via eagles.com. An artist presale begins 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8 while Live Nation and SiriusXM presales begin 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10.
Imagine NYE
Imagine Dragons will ring in 2025 The Venetian Theatre at 9:30 p.m. Dec. 31. Tickets for the newly added tour date start at $139.95 and go on sale 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 via Ticketmaster. And artist presale begins at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, while Venetian Rewards members and Live Nation and Ticketmaster customers will receive access to a pre-sale beginning 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4.
Sammy is Key
Former Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar will receive a key to the Las Vegas Strip on Friday, Oct. 4, on the patio of his Cabo Wabo Cantina. The event will recognize Hagar’s “profound economic and charitable impact in Clark County, Nevada,” while also celebrating the 15th anniversary of his Planet Hollywood restaurant and his own 77th birthday — though it’s not until Oct. 13.
What exactly is a key to the Las Vegas Strip? It’s a ceremony invented in 2013 by then-Clark County Commissioner Steve Sisolak to discourage Strip venues from hosting keys to the city presentations.
Totally serious.
Las Vegas consists only of what tourists know as downtown, but most tourists don’t know that. Most have no idea what Clark County is and think the Las Vegas Strip is in the city of Las Vegas.
So the mayors of Las Vegas have all made a habit of presenting keys to the city to celebrities and other VIPs on the Strip, even though the Strip is outside their jurisdiction in unincorporated Clark County. Because, let’s face it, the Strip is more exciting and world famous than downtown.
Since Clark County Commissioner is not nearly as prominent a leadership position, the mayor routinely stole every presentation — and none more flagrantly than Oscar Goodman, the former mob attorney who always arrived bookended by two beautiful ladies in showgirl costumes and holding a giant martini glass.
The city of Las Vegas still gives away keys to itself, incidentally, and still often on the Strip.
