What’s Wrong With Baby Tesoro?

Days of Our Lives synopses for the week of July 7-11 suggest there may be something seriously wrong with Tosoro, the baby that Javi and Leo are fostering. Sick babies often make for devastating storylines, and this soap opera has used them effectively in the past.
Days of Our Lives has turned the favorite soap trope of a baby switch into a heartbreaking storyline about a newborn’s death on several occasions. Most famously, the baby switch involving Sydney led to Sami discovering the truth after Chad and Mia’s baby died of meningitis. More recently, Sarah learned that her baby had died.
Sarah had been raising baby Rachel, who was Kristen’s. This may come up again now that Rachel is ten years old and seems attached to Sarah. However, Days of Our Lives has also brought plenty of drama involving baby Tosoro, who nobody yet knows is Marlena’s (Days of Our Lives’ Deidre Hall) grandson.

Leo Fears Something Is Wrong With The Baby
The baby ordeal begins on Tuesday, with Leo having a hard time calming the screaming infant. This in itself is nothing new, as he was complaining about the baby being fussy last week. However, this time, Leo worries aloud that something is wrong.

Days of Our Lives Says Goodbye to Beloved Duo as Young Characters’ Lives Take Dramatic Turns
One Days of Our Lives legacy couple will leave Salem far too soon, but their farewell comes alongside a meaty story for the younger generation.
Gabi has raised an infant before, so it would be wise for Leo to put aside his differences with her and let her help. However, it’s likely that Leo will panic and insist on taking the baby to the hospital. Hopefully, Javi will help him calm down, given his EMT experience. Here are the synopses for each day this week:
- Monday, July 7: Sophia has mixed feelings about giving the baby up — will she change her mind? Xander and Sarah have another argument. Tate and Holly discuss their plans for the getaway. Chad bonds with Cat.
- Tuesday, July 8: Gwen returns to Salem, wearing Julie’s necklace. Will she give it up without demanding something in return? Julie and Chad are shocked to see Gwen. Leo has a hard time with the baby. Rafe busts Ari. Alex and Stephanie try again for evening romance.
- Wednesday, July 9: Belle worries about Marlena. Is the renowned therapist’s grief turning into a serious physical illness? Doug III tries to push Ari away. Leo opens up to Javi about his checkered past. Bonnie confronts Sarah with the truth. Xander reconnects with Gwen.
- Thursday, July 10: Tony has a warning for EJ. Will EJ take it seriously? Chanel offers Johnny support. Belle and Jada discover something surprising. Xander faces off with Philip again.
- Friday, July 11: Jada interrogates Chanel. Will she arrest her and let Johnny go? Paulina fills Johnny in. EJ works Belle. Xander clashes with Maggie, while Sarah tries to convince Philip to come forward with the truth.
What Big Storyline We’re Following This Week
The Baby Story Could Have Serious Implications
Although there are several exciting developments, the baby story is the one to watch this week because of its implications for several characters. Nobody yet knows that this is Sophia and Tate’s baby, but that could change if Leo brings it to the hospital.
It’s likely that the baby will need blood work to rule out certain illnesses. If so, this could lead to the reveal that the baby is Sophia and Tate’s. While there are still rumors that Tate is not the father of the baby, this is not likely. However, if Days of Our Lives did want this plot twist, the baby’s illness would be the ideal way to reveal it.
Sophia’s mixed feelings about her decision to abandon the baby also opens the possibility that she hears about his illness and comes to the hospital to check on him or identifies herself as his mother.
Sophia’s mixed feelings about her decision to abandon the baby also opens the possibility that she will hear about his illness and will come to the hospital to check on him or identify herself as his mother. Additionally, Leo and Javi are becoming attached to the baby despite only planning to foster him temporarily.
Any storyline involving the baby being sick will devastate Leo and Javi even if it’s not an illness that puts the baby at serious risk of death. This could also be the beginning of a story about them learning how to navigate their anxieties as new parents.
How This Sets Up Next Week’s Days of Our Lives
There Will Continue to Be Fallout From Sophia’s Decision
Sophia is currently wearing a pregnancy pad so that nobody knows she hasn’t given birth yet, but this secret will continue to take a toll on her, and it will be even worse for her if Tate finds out about her betrayal. Although Days of Our Lives already has one custody battle right now, another could be brewing.

This Week on Days Of Our Lives: A Shocking Arrest in EJ’s Shooting Sends Salem Reeling
The Salem PD finally makes an arrest in EJ’s shooting, and it turns several people against one another, promising to lead to dramatic fallout.
It would be an interesting and unique story for the soap if Sophia or Tate battled not only each other, but Javi and Leo for custody of the baby. The baby drama may also play into Johnny and Chanel’s story.
Johnny’s decision not to adopt deeply hurt Chanel. If it becomes common knowledge that Leo and Javi are raising that baby, it could upset Chanel all over again while she and Johnny both face legal problems related to EJ’s shooting in this week’s Days of Our Lives.
